Research MCP.

Search CourtListener's case law collection, retrieve opinions and case records, and follow citations through an MCP client.

Connect to the hosted server

Open the catalog connection page for the current endpoint, price, and copyable configuration. The available endpoint is in BNSG's development environment.

Use an MCP client that supports remote Streamable HTTP and a custom Authorization header. Supply Bearer YOUR_BNSG_API_KEY using the API key from your marketplace account. You do not need your own CourtListener token for the hosted service.

Configuration formats differ between clients. A client that accepts only OAuth connectors or local stdio servers needs a supported HTTP adapter; an endpoint URL alone does not authenticate it.

Available tools

Make your first request

After connecting, ask your MCP client to list the server's tools, then search Illinois opinions for a topic. Follow a returned opinion identifier to its source text. Use the original court materials to check any conclusion or citation.

Understand usage

Pricing is per forwarded HTTP request, paid from your shared BNSG balance. MCP initialization and tool discovery are requests too; one prompt may cause several requests. An upstream error may still incur a charge after forwarding. Check the catalog for the current price and your account for recorded usage.

Troubleshooting

  • 401: check your BNSG key and Authorization header.
  • 402: add credit to your marketplace balance.
  • 404: copy the current endpoint from the catalog and check product availability.
  • 429: reduce request frequency and retry after the response's indicated delay.
  • 502 or 503: retry later; contact support if the service remains unavailable.

For help, contact hello@bnsg.io with the product, time, and request identifier if available. Never include your API key.
